Job Title:
Unloader Job Description The Unloader safely unloads incoming shipments, verifies and documents cargo, and moves freight to designated storage locations in a warehouse environment. This role focuses on accurate inventory handling, efficient use of warehouse space, and maintaining proper stock rotation while using material-handling equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks. Responsibilities Unload shipments from trucks or containers safely and efficiently, often using forklifts or pallet jacks. Count, weigh, and inspect incoming cargo to identify any damage, shortages, or overages. Verify shipping documentation against manifests and promptly report any discrepancies. Move freight to assigned storage locations in the warehouse, ensuring safe handling and placement. Maximize warehouse space by storing items properly on racks or in designated ready rows. Maintain accurate inventory records, including performing cycle counts and participating in physical inventories. Ensure proper stock rotation so that products are used in the correct order and minimize obsolescence. Update inventory adjustments when discrepancies or changes in stock levels occur. Follow all warehouse safety procedures and guidelines while operating equipment and handling materials. Collaborate with loading, picking, and inventory activities to support smooth warehouse operations. Essential Skills Ability to safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks for unloading and moving freight. Capability to perform heavy lifting as needed in a warehouse setting. Strong attention to detail when counting, weighing, and inspecting cargo. Ability to accurately verify documentation against manifests and report discrepancies. Basic inventory control skills, including maintaining records and performing counts. Understanding of proper stock rotation practices. Commitment to following warehouse safety procedures and equipment operating guidelines. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a warehouse or distribution environment. Familiarity with loading, picking, and general material-handling operations. Comfort using basic inventory systems or handheld devices to track stock. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a warehouse environment that involves regular handling of freight, operation of forklifts and pallet jacks, and movement throughout storage areas and racks. The position may require heavy lifting at times and working during peak periods when volume is higher. Employees follow established safety protocols and work around standard warehouse equipment and materials. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Independence, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
