Job Title:
Material Handler Job Description This role focuses on accurately handling, sorting, and preparing inventory in a fast-paced warehouse environment. You will spend approximately half of your day using a handheld scanner to locate and scan boxes, build pallets, and support inventory movement. The remaining time involves sorting and cleaning TV remotes, packaging them with new batteries, and preparing them for shipment, while also performing basic data entry tasks to receive and track new inventory in the computer system. Responsibilities Use a handheld scanner throughout the day to scan boxes, identify required items, and place them on pallets for further processing. Sort TV remotes, clean them thoroughly, and ensure they are organized according to established procedures. Package sorted remotes with new batteries, label them accurately, and place completed packages on pallets for shipment or storage. Perform data entry into internal systems using a computer to receive, track, and update inventory records accurately. Maintain satisfactory quality performance levels by following established standards and procedures. Package, unpackage, sort, stage, and prepare units for production, ensuring items are correctly labeled and handled. Put away equipment and parts in designated locations and pull equipment or parts as needed to support production and shipping activities. Work efficiently in a high-speed, high-volume environment while meeting productivity and quality expectations. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation throughout the shift. Perform other duties as assigned to support overall warehouse and production operations. Essential Skills Ability to stand for the duration of the shift. Ability to speak, read, and write in English to follow instructions, complete documentation, and perform data entry. Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate scanning, sorting, packaging, and data entry. Experience working in a shipping, warehouse, or material handling environment. Ability to perform pick and pack activities in a production or warehouse setting. Basic computer skills to perform data entry into internal systems. Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume production or warehouse environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience using handheld scanners for inventory or order picking. Experience with general production work, including sorting, staging, and preparing units for processing. Familiarity with basic inventory control processes and warehouse organization. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a warehouse and production environment that operates at high speed and high volume. You will spend most of your shift on your feet, moving between workstations, pallets, and inventory locations. Daily work involves using handheld scanners similar to smartphones, computers for data entry, and standard packaging materials and equipment. The environment emphasizes cleanliness and organization, with an expectation that each employee maintains a neat and orderly workstation. Shifts require consistent standing, walking, and handling of boxes, equipment, and small components such as TV remotes and batteries. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Inver Grove Heights, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
