Job Title:
Material Handler Job Description The Material Handler plays a key role in supporting production and warehouse operations by moving raw materials to the production floor and transporting finished goods to storage areas for staging and shipment. This position works closely with the warehouse team and production leadership to coordinate orders and ensure the right materials are available when needed. The role requires hands-on operation of stand-up forklifts and reach trucks, regular use of inventory systems and shipping portals, and the ability to handle and verify materials and finished products safely and accurately. Responsibilities Transport raw materials from storage areas to the production floor in a timely and accurate manner. Move finished goods from production to the warehouse and place them in appropriate storage locations. Coordinate daily activities with warehouse staff and production leadership to ensure alignment on orders, material needs, and priorities. Verify quantities of finished goods to ensure accuracy before staging and preparing them for shipping. Use a handheld scanner to pull inventory for shipping and maintain accurate tracking of materials and finished products. Access and navigate the company's inventory system using a computer to locate, update, and verify stock levels. Use UPS and FedEx shipping portals when needed to prepare labels, documentation, and shipments. Safely operate stand-up forklifts and reach trucks to move materials and finished goods throughout the facility. Follow all safety procedures and best practices when lifting, moving, and stacking materials, including lifting loads up to 75 pounds. Maintain clean, organized, and efficient work areas in both warehouse and production spaces. Assist with general shipping activities, including staging orders, loading, and preparing items for carrier pickup as needed. Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors regarding inventory discrepancies, material shortages, and shipment status. Essential Skills Proven experience operating a stand-up forklift. Proven experience operating a reach truck. Comfort and proficiency using handheld scanners for inventory and shipping tasks. Experience using inventory systems on a computer to track and manage materials. Ability to use UPS and FedEx shipping portals to prepare and process shipments. Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 75 pounds safely and repeatedly. Strong attention to detail when verifying quantities and preparing orders. Effective communication skills for coordinating with warehouse and production teams. Commitment to following safety procedures in a warehouse and production environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous warehouse experience handling raw materials and finished goods. Experience operating sit-down forklifts, with willingness to train on stand-up equipment if needed. Good tenure in prior roles, demonstrating reliability and consistency in a warehouse or production setting. Basic computer literacy for accessing inventory systems and shipping portals. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support both production and warehouse teams as needed. Why Work Here? The environment emphasizes safety, efficiency, and clear communication among production and warehouse staff. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carpentersville, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
