Job Title:
Material Handler Job Description The Material Handler works in multiple departments within a distribution center, including case pick, shipping, receiving, returns, loading, order processing, and replenishment. This role involves operating material handling equipment to move inventory within the facility. Responsibilities Use material handling equipment to locate and deliver products, supplies, and equipment to designated areas. Assist with staging and loading orders into trucks for customer delivery. Verify the quantity and quality of incoming products from vendors and distribution centers. Use packing list information to collect items for customer orders, including building and wrapping pallets of products. Examine and inspect stock items for wear and defects, and notify management of inventory issues. Return misplaced products to proper storage areas. Maintain a clean working environment in accordance with company safety policies. Perform inventory control functions as needed. Refer complex, unusual problems to the supervisor. Work under general supervision, exercising some judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, and techniques. Regularly review output with a lead coworker or supervisor. Essential Skills Experience with electric pallet jack. Material handling expertise. General labor skills. Order picking/sorting capabilities. Loading/unloading proficiency. Work Environment The role is situated in a large industrial environment, typically comfortable but with regular exposure to factors that may cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness, such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes. Working hours are Monday morning to Friday morning, from 1:30am to 10:30am. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Capitol Heights, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
