Job Description
Primary Purpose Work in a hatchery setting performing assigned job duties to include set, sanitation, processing and Embrex operations. Follow all established safety and operational standard operating procedures (SOPs) to achieve goals on hatch, hatch of fertile (HOF), early mortality and budgets. Major Duties & Responsibilities Shoveling egg waste into containers and disposing in dumpster Pressure washing waste separating equipment (separates dry material from liquid materials) Sweeping and cleaning loading docks. Some docks require heavy lifting of grates and shoveling out debris from drain. Changing filters in all HVAC units on the rooftop weekly. In addition to changing return filters every 3-4 weeks. Loading and unloading heavy egg racks (approx. 1500-1800lbs) from trailers. Pushing and pulling egg rack inventory to designated areas in building or egg rooms. Must be able to wear a full-faced respirator for changing/washing chemical barrels. Maintain cleanliness in the hatchery by scrubbing floors with a floor scrubber machine, changing mouse glue traps, taking out trash, mopping breakroom floors and cleaning windows and vending machines. Climbing ladders to wash ventilation tunnels and exhaust fans on a monthly basis. Must be able to fill in as a chick delivery helper which requires emptying many boxes of chicks into hot broiler houses. Unloading supplies using a forklift and bringing those supplies into the hatchery as needed. Other duties as requested by management. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of all safety training, lockout-tagout and pallet jack certification. Continuous standing, walking, twisting, lifting, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling. Works in a hatchery environment.
