Job Description

Manufacturing & Warehouse Utility Associate Harcourt Industrial - 4.4 Madison Heights, MI Job Details Full-time From $20 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off On-the-job training Vision insurance Opportunities for advancement Qualifications Teamwork Manufacturing facility experience Driving Warehouse experience Materials handling Manufacturing Full Job Description Manufacturing & Warehouse Utility Associate Harcourt Industrial, Inc. - Madison Heights, MI Full-Time | Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM-4:30 PM Position Overview Harcourt Industrial is looking for an energetic, dependable Manufacturing & Warehouse Utility Associate who is ready to jump in wherever help is needed. This is a hands-on, fast-moving position for someone who enjoys variety and doesn't need every day—or every hour—to look exactly the same. Depending on the priorities of the day, you may be assisting with warehouse duties, running our bagging equipment, completing light assembly work, cycle counting inventory, supporting our in-house build team, verifying BOMs, or helping make sure upcoming jobs have the correct parts received, organized, and ready to go. We can teach many of the specific tasks. What we can't teach is energy, attitude, reliability, communication, and the willingness to help. We're looking for someone who comes to work each day ready to contribute, stays productive, communicates well with the people around them, and is comfortable shifting gears when the team needs help somewhere else. What This Job IS NOT We want to be upfront about the type of position this is. This is NOT a slow-paced warehouse position where you'll spend most of your day driving a hi-lo, pulling pallets, or waiting for the next assignment. Our warehouse and operations team is nimble, busy, and constantly on their feet. Priorities can change throughout the day, and we need someone who genuinely enjoys that type of environment. This role is probably not the right fit if you're looking for: A job where you perform the same task all day, every day A primarily forklift/hi-lo driving position A slow-paced environment with significant downtime A position where you wait to be told what to do next A role with a narrow "that's not my job" mentality We need someone who can deliver both quality AND quantity. Moving quickly doesn't mean sacrificing accuracy, and being detail-oriented doesn't mean moving slowly. The right person will be energetic, approachable, and readily available to help with whatever comes up. We want someone who can finish one assignment, look around and ask "What can I help with next?"—and do it with a positive attitude and a smile. What You'll Do Responsibilities will vary based on daily priorities and may include: Assist with general warehouse duties, material handling, organization, and cleanup Operate our automated bagging equipment and assist with packaging products Perform light assembly and other hands-on production tasks Assist with inventory counts and ongoing cycle-counting efforts Verify quantities, part numbers, and inventory accuracy Support our in-house build and assembly team with upcoming jobs Assist with BOM verification to ensure required components are accounted for Update and organize job boxes as parts are received for upcoming builds Identify missing, incorrect, or questionable material and communicate discrepancies Help receive, sort, stage, and organize material Read part numbers, work instructions, BOMs, and other job documentation Assist different departments when additional hands are needed Keep work areas organized and help maintain an efficient shop and warehouse environment Balance multiple assignments while staying clear on current priorities Communicate progress, questions, and potential problems proactively What We're Looking For The most important qualification for this position is a ready-to-work attitude.
The right person will be:
Energetic and self-motivated — someone who naturally keeps moving Dependable and consistently ready to work Willing to help with whatever needs to get done Comfortable being on their feet and active throughout the workday Comfortable working in a role where responsibilities may change throughout the day Able to work with a sense of urgency without sacrificing accuracy Organized and able to keep track of multiple assignments Able to understand priorities and shift between tasks when needed Detail-oriented, particularly when working with part numbers, quantities, inventory, and job requirements Comfortable asking questions rather than making assumptions A strong communicator who keeps others informed Positive and approachable when teammates need assistance Able to work independently while also being a strong team player Experience reading manufacturing prints or blueprints is a major plus and will help you stand out as a candidate. Previous experience in manufacturing, assembly, inventory, warehouse operations, shipping/receiving, or a similar hands-on environment is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person. What Makes Someone Successful at Harcourt Harcourt is a team-focused company that relies heavily on trust, communication, dedication, and personal responsibility. We are looking for someone who wants to be part of that environment and demonstrates our
Core Values:
Take Responsibility & Care Own your work, communicate when something isn't right, and care about the outcome. Common Sense with Attention to Detail Think through what you're doing, pay attention to the details, and speak up when something doesn't look right. Work Hard & Be Reliable Show up, stay productive, be dependable, and be someone your teammates know they can count on. Thirst for Going Above & Beyond Don't limit yourself to "that's not my job." Look for ways to help the team and keep things moving. For this particular position, those values are especially important. We aren't looking for someone who only wants to perform one specific task. We're looking for someone who takes pride in being the person the team can count on when something needs to get done.
