Job Title:
General Labor Job Description This role involves physically demanding work in a busy manufacturing environment, handling metal automotive parts, loading them into machines, and supporting automated production processes. You will perform repetitive lifting, ensure parts are properly clamped and processed, and carry out quality checks so that finished parts are sorted and labeled correctly. The work is straightforward and easy to learn, but requires consistent physical effort and attention to detail throughout each shift. Responsibilities Load metal automotive parts into machines, ensuring each part is correctly positioned and securely clamped before processing. Work with automated equipment where robots unload and stack parts, monitoring the process to keep production running smoothly. Perform regular quality checks on parts to ensure they meet required standards and specifications. Sort finished parts into appropriate bins according to part numbers and labels, maintaining accurate organization. Lift and handle parts weighing approximately 20-45 pounds every 2-3 minutes throughout the shift. Follow all safety procedures while working with metal parts and machinery in a loud manufacturing environment. Maintain a clean and orderly work area to support safe and efficient operations. Support overall manufacturing activities such as basic machine operation, assembly tasks, parts washing, and general production duties as needed. Essential Skills Previous and recent experience performing physically demanding work, frequently lifting 25-40 pounds. Proven ability to perform repetitive heavy lifting safely and consistently over the course of a full shift. Experience in physically intensive roles such as construction, farming, landscaping, or similar work environments. Comfort working in a loud, busy manufacturing or industrial setting. Ability to follow instructions carefully and adhere to safety procedures when working around machinery and metal parts. Reliability and willingness to work multiple shifts and frequent Saturday shifts. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in manufacturing, assembly, or machine operation. Experience with parts washing or working with metal parts in an industrial setting. Familiarity with basic quality inspection practices in a production environment. Comfort working with automated or robotic equipment in a manufacturing setting. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a manufacturing facility focused on metal machining and production. The environment is loud and busy, with machines and robotic equipment operating throughout the shift. Work areas are well lit to support safe and accurate handling of parts. You will regularly lift metal parts from waist height and knee height to waist height, placing them onto machines or into bins. The role follows a rotating or assigned shift structure, with day shifts from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., afternoon shifts from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., and midnight shifts from 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. The operation runs many Saturdays, and Sundays are rarely scheduled but provide double-time pay when worked. The dress code aligns with a typical industrial setting, requiring appropriate work attire and safety gear suitable for a metal manufacturing environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Port Huron, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
