We are looking for a General Laborer to join our Machine Shop team! This position will assist with daily shop operations, material handling, equipment operation, inventory, and general organization while supporting the team wherever needed.
Compensation:
$18 + hourly
DOE Responsibilities:
Operate cutting equipment and saws; training will be provided Assist with organizing materials, products, and work areas Maintain and monitor inventory of shop materials and supplies Keep the shop clean, safe, and organized Load and unload materials using a forklift Package and prepare shipments for delivery Assist with local deliveries to customers as needed Accurately measure materials using a tape measure Support other shop employees with production and material handling tasks Follow all company safety procedures and workplace guidelines Perform additional duties as assigned to support daily shop operations This position is safety-sensitive
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a general labor, warehouse, manufacturing, or shop environment preferred Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure Forklift experience required Must have or be willing to obtain OSHA 10 certification Welding experience is highly preferred Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Willingness to learn, follow instructions, and take on a variety of tasks Ability to work independently and as part of a team Commitment to following all safety policies and procedures Valid Class E driver's license with a safe driving record About Company SMSI is dedicated to providing the highest quality mechanical services performed in an honest, dependable, and efficient manner.
