Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated CDL Driver and Warehouse Worker to join our logistics team. This multifaceted role involves operating commercial trucks to deliver freight efficiently and safely while also managing warehouse tasks such as loading, unloading, and cargo handling. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of transportation regulations, excellent driving skills, and the ability to perform manual handling duties with precision. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic supply chain operation, ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining high safety standards. Responsibilities Safely operate tractor-trailers and other commercial vehicles, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, adhering strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Plan and execute over-the-road (OTR) driving routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery efficiency. Load and unload freight manually or with equipment, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transport. Transport hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods in compliance with hazardous materials regulations. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle inspections, and delivery documentation in accordance with DOT regulations. Assist in warehouse operations by managing logistics cargo handling, including freight sorting, inventory management, and preparing shipments for dispatch. Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips; report any mechanical issues promptly. Ensure compliance with all safety protocols during loading, unloading, and transportation processes. Collaborate with dispatch teams to coordinate delivery schedules and communicate any delays or issues effectively. Uphold professional conduct while representing the company during route driving and delivery activities. Skills Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving across various routes such as local, regional, or OTR routes. Proficiency in operating refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and other specialized equipment. Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT requirements, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards. Skilled in GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time navigation adjustments. Ability to handle manual transmission trucks confidently; experience with manual handling of logistics cargo is essential. Familiarity with truck loading/unloading procedures and freight management practices. Excellent driving record with a focus on safety; previous experience with hazardous goods is a plus. Effective communication skills for coordinating with warehouse staff, dispatchers, and clients. Physical ability to perform manual handling tasks safely; capable of lifting heavy loads when necessary. Knowledge of automobile transportation laws and regulations related to commercial trucking.
