This position plays a critical role in ensuring donated goods are handled efficiently, safely, and respectfully while maintaining an organized warehouse environment. The Intake Warehouse Worker helps maximize the value of donations by identifying items suitable for sale, recycling, or disposal. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Receive and unload donated goods from donors, collection sites, and delivery vehicles. Greet and assist donors in a friendly and professional manner. Sort donations into categories such as clothing, household goods, furniture, electronics, books, and miscellaneous merchandise. Inspect donated items for quality, cleanliness, damage, and resale suitability. Prepare merchandise for pricing and transfer it to the retail sales floor. Maintain accurate records of incoming donations when required. Organize warehouse inventory and storage areas to maximize efficiency and safety. Move inventory using carts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, or other approved equipment. Assist with loading and unloading merchandise for customers and deliveries. Remove and properly dispose of damaged, unsellable, or unsafe items according to company procedures. Ensure warehouse and donation intake areas remain clean, organized, and free of hazards. Follow all safety procedures, including proper lifting techniques and use of personal protective equipment. Support store staff with special projects, inventory counts, and seasonal donation drives as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous warehouse, retail, donation center, or material handling experience preferred. Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds with assistance. Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and reach for extended periods. Ability to safely handle furniture and bulky donations. Ability to work in varying temperatures and warehouse conditions. Work Environment Warehouse and donation intake setting. Frequent interaction with donors, volunteers, and staff. Exposure to dust, varying temperatures, and donated goods of all types. Use of forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, and other warehouse equipment may be required.
