Description:

Material Handler Job Description This role supports a leading commercial truck modification facility by safely handling, moving, and staging materials and components used to build and customize specialized trucks. The material handler operates multiple types of forklifts to move parts between production and receiving areas, helping ensure that assembly, mechanical, and automotive technician teams have the materials they need to keep operations running smoothly. Responsibilities Operate forklifts for approximately 75% of the workday to move, load, and unload materials and truck components throughout the facility. Use stand-up forklifts to transport pallets and materials within production and storage areas. Use reach trucks to access and move materials from racking and higher storage locations. Use sit-down propane forklifts to move heavier or bulk materials safely between receiving and production. Support production operations by delivering materials, parts, and components to designated workstations in a timely manner. Assist receiving operations by unloading incoming materials and staging them in appropriate locations. Handle automotive and mechanical components with care to prevent damage and ensure they are ready for use by assemblers and technicians. Follow established safety procedures and equipment operating guidelines at all times. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area in both production and receiving zones. Coordinate material movements with assemblers, mechanics, and automotive technicians to meet production schedules. Adapt to different tasks as needed during training and after, including supporting both production and receiving functions. Essential Skills Proficiency operating forklifts for the majority of the workday, including stand-up, reach, and sit-down propane forklifts. Ability to safely maneuver forklifts in a busy production and warehouse environment. Experience supporting production or receiving operations in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Capability to work closely with assemblers, mechanics, and automotive technicians and understand basic material flow in a truck or automotive-related operation. Strong attention to safety, with consistent adherence to equipment operating procedures. Ability to follow instructions, adapt during training, and transition between production and receiving tasks as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with materials and components used in truck or automotive modification is a plus. Comfort working in a fast-paced industrial setting with changing priorities between production and receiving. Willingness to learn site-specific processes and workflows during an initial training period. Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a first-shift role in an industrial production and receiving environment. Typical schedules are Monday through Friday, either 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for production or 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for receiving, with initial training conducted on the 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. shift before moving to the appropriate schedule. Work takes place in a busy facility where commercial trucks are modified, and you will regularly use stand-up, reach, and sit-down propane forklifts around production lines and receiving areas. The environment is hands-on and active, with standard industrial conditions and a focus on safety and coordination between departments. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mt. Holly, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
