Driver/Warehouse Associate

Responsible for working as part of a team to drive the ReStore donation truck to scheduled pickup locations, meet donors, load/unload donated items including furniture. Associates also work within the store to move items around, maintain a pleasant retail environment, and help customers. All associates represent Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity and must ensure exceptional customer service for donors and customers, create a rewarding experience for volunteers, and effectively communicate Raritan Valley Habitat's mission and goals.

Principal Duties:

• Operate donation trucks in a safe, lawful, and courteous manner
• Maintain cleanliness of trucks interior and exterior (cab/daily; exterior/weekly)
• Regular maintenance checks to ensure readiness of truck and equipment at all times including reporting any maintenance concerns to supervisor
• Daily truck safety checks to ensure the truck is safe to be on the road.
• Regular and as needed communication with Managers
• Loading/unloading of donations in a safe and efficient manner
• Work with ReStore managers and back room supervisor to ensure all donations stay together and do not get separated.
• Place items from warehouse onto the floor as needed. Help move items from the floor to loading area for customers.
• Place and secure loads as trained.
• Professional and courteous interaction with shoppers and donors, including utmost care and concern for personal property
• Assist with donation processing, recycling, and store needs when not assigned to truck
• Must have a valid driver's license and be eligible to be added to Raritan Valley Habitat vehicle insurance, which requires at least one year of driving experience and a favorable driving record.

Other Duties:

• Communicate the mission of Habitat for Humanity.
• Assist with Raritan Valley Habitat special events as needed.
• Comply with all policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned by Store Managers.

Requirements:

• Valid driver's license and favorable driving record.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time, to move and handle boxes of merchandise, furniture, and fixtures over varied terrain including stairs and through doorways, entails lifting at least 75 pounds, assisted.
• Ability to understand and communicate in English; other languages are a plus.
• Ability to work Tuesday-Saturday, 10AM-6PM.
• Ability to use computer and Microsoft Office.
• Willing to train in other positions at the ReStore.
• Maintain a positive, upbeat attitude to contribute to a collaborative and engaging work environment.
• Bring a positive, can-do attitude to daily tasks and interactions with team members and customers.
