Non-Exempt Reports to: Director of Day Operations The primary function of the Warehouse Lumper is to efficiently unload and load inbound and outbound shipments by hand or using non-powered equipment. Lumpers are responsible for sorting, stacking, palletizing, and ensuring the accurate handling of freight. The Warehouse Lumper must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty listed below. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Unload inbound freight manually or with non-powered equipment such as hand jacks and pallet jacks Break down pallets and sort product by item number or destination Re-stack freight in accordance with safety and operational standards Shrink-wrap completed pallets and prepare them for storage or outbound shipment Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including sweeping, trash removal, and debris clearing Follow all warehouse safety procedures, company policies, and food safety regulations Communicate any discrepancies, damages, or unsafe conditions to the supervisor immediately Assist with organizing and consolidating pallets to maximize warehouse space Work collaboratively with receiving and shipping teams to ensure efficient operations Attend required team meetings and training sessions Perform other warehouse-related tasks as assigned by supervisor or management Qualifications Education/Training Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to job duties and safety requirements Must have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide) Proven experience in warehouse environment preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Strong verbal and written communication skills with a professional and friendly demeanor Ability to handle a high volume of tasks and multitask effectively Able to work at a steady pace for the entire shift in a fast-paced warehouse environment Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team Adheres to company policies, safety standards, and procedures Physical Requirements The physical requirements described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and climb for prolonged periods Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls Regular reaching, balancing, talking, hearing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or sitting Frequently required to push/pull/lift/carry/move up to 40 lbs; occasionally up to 50 lbs; and seldom up to 100 lbs Comfortable working in varying warehouse conditions (e.g., cold storage, rooftop units, confined spaces) General Requirements Must be at least 18 years of age Must successfully pass a controlled substance screening test This is a full-time position; must be available to work Monday-Friday, weekends & holidays as needed. Work hours may vary, or change based on department or operational requirements Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, a Warehouse Lumper will constantly work near powered industrial equipment and experience exposure to vibration and moderate to high noise levels. The work environment includes congested and high traffic areas, slippery floors, working alongside forklifts, single pallet jacks, electric walk behind jacks and hand carts. Walking and working on concrete flooring. Duties will require working in Varying climates. Temperatures range from below zero in the freezer to 95°F or above outdoors.
