Job Description

Summary:
The Warehouse Selector (WS) position is responsible for accurate and efficient selection of product ordered and built by pallet for delivery to our customers. This is a 55-day probationary position that leads to union membership. Essential Functions (must be able to be performed with or without reasonable accommodation): Has a general duty to act in accordance with the Company's mission, vision and values as well as execute all plans, assignments and/or directives assigned by Company Management. The WS, as is the case with all Company stakeholders, is expected to represent the Company in a manner consistent with all Company policies. Employees' conduct that demonstrates the high degree of value the Company places on its employees, its customers and business partners. Performs assigned duties in accordance with all Company safety requests, productivity requests, Standards Operating Procedures and all applicable State, federal and local laws, including but not limited to
OS&H, EEO, DOL
laws and NYS Motor vehicle laws. Follow all Company OS&H policies and supplier methods of compliance. Must demonstrate a commitment to the safety of the Company's employees and the public among whom our business activities take place. Informs management of any business-related opportunities and/or problems in the work within which the WS operates. Performs accurately, neatly and in a timely fashion any equipment condition reports. Employees in training must demonstrate proficiency at operating electric forklifts and pallet jacks and become certified on all power equipment. Safe and careful handling of product minimizing breakage. Safe and efficient operation of all assigned equipment. Accurately and efficiently select orders for delivery per company standards. Regularly constructs pallets and lifts various products weighing up to 165 lbs. Participate and cooperate fully in any assigned training, development, and/or group activities that management may choose to assign. Completes other warehouse duties assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications:
Education and/or
Experience:
High School Diploma and one to two years related warehousing and forklift experience and/or training recommended.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software and be able to learn and use assigned company equipment.
Other Qualifications:
Must have excellent communication and people skills in order to be able to respond to any situation. Understanding of product code dating system.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Steady lifting and motion required for 10+ hours, ability to regularly lift 165 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
