Full-Time | Four 10-hour shifts (Overtime as needed) Join Our Team! Avenue Fabricating, Inc. is seeking a dependable, organized, and motivated Material Handler to join our growing team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring materials are accurately received, organized, tracked, and delivered throughout our steel fabrication facility to support production and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities As a Material Handler, you will: Coordinate the receiving and shipping of all materials. Inspect incoming steel and materials to ensure they meet ASTM A6 specifications. Verify incoming materials against purchase orders, including proper piece marks and documentation. Report discrepancies, shortages, or damaged materials to the Shipping Manager. Organize and store materials by project number and purchase order. Process material requests from fabrication personnel and ensure timely delivery to production. Coordinate movement of materials from fabrication to the paint department. Maintain inventory accuracy and proper material identification. Remove and organize steel drops while ensuring proper labeling. Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned yard and storage areas. Forward Bills of Lading and receiving documentation to the Shipping Manager. Follow all company quality, safety, and operating procedures. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
High School Diploma or GED. Minimum of 5 years of experience in the steel fabrication, welding, or structural steel industry. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to read purchase orders and shipping documentation. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Commitment to quality, customer service, and workplace safety.
Preferred:
Previous shipping, receiving, inventory, or material handling experience. Experience working in a growing manufacturing company. Forklift and overhead crane experience. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Stand and walk for extended periods on concrete floors. Frequently bend, reach, stoop, climb, and lift materials. Safely navigate around structural steel and fabrication equipment. Work in both an office environment and an active fabrication shop. Work Schedule Four (4) ten-hour shifts per week. Overtime, including Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, or extended hours, may be required based on production demands.
