Job Description:
Water Distribution Laborer As of April 25th, 2025
Definition:
This position is under the direction of the Water Distribution Coordinator and performs semi-skilled to skilled duties in the construction, maintenance and repair of water and sewer infrastructure, including the use of any and all related devices and equipment necessary to perform the work. Availability for Emergency call-outs after hours is required. This position also performs other Water/Sewer Department related work.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED Possess a valid and insurable Driver's License Be available for on-call and call-out work as needed. Ability to understand written and oral communications Ability to complete written and legible documentation Maintain sufficient physical strength to independently and repeatedly lift, move and carry objects weighting up to 100 — pounds. Maintain the ability to repeatedly lift, stand, kneel and bend for long periods of time. Understand and practice basic knowledge of worksite safety Possess basic understanding of and experience with the use of power tools Operate the departments assigned vehicles in a safe and efficient manner Work in a variety of weather conditions. Maintain order and cleanliness in all work areas Maintain proper hygiene The Water Distribution Labor is required to commit to an on-call and available status during non-scheduled working hours to include nights and weekends as needed. Required ability to perform detailed duties as follows: Consistently Arrive for work on time Communicate professionally with all Village personnel and customers. Read and interpret work orders and complete the work order documentation upon job completion. Maintain and safely operate gas, battery and electric powered equipment. Maintain and safely operate vehicles such as pick-up trucks and dump trucks. Load, unload and keep tools and other equipment organized at all times Perform manual labor and work in the maintenance, repair, construction, and installation of water and sewer systems, including but not limited to pipelines, valves, fire hydrants, pumps, meters, catch basins and services. Repair water leaks Locate water lines, shut-off valves and other valves. Operate valves to turn water on and off. Preventative maintenance and exercising of valves. Conduct sewer maintenance using a VAC truck. Support maintenance of pump stations. Repair and replace catch-basins. Ability to operate backhoe or related heavy equipment not required, but a plus. Flush fire hydrants. Read and understand utility maps Perform various Customer Service-related tasks. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Pay:
From $15.00 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 per week
