Forklift Operator Job Description This role focuses on safely operating powered industrial equipment to move, store, and prepare materials and products within a busy distribution center. You will handle loading and unloading, picking and packing orders, and maintaining accuracy and productivity standards while following all safety and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities Operate powered industrial equipment such as forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, and turret trucks safely and efficiently. Load, unload, transport, stack, and retrieve materials, including at elevated storage locations. Perform routine equipment inspections and promptly report any safety or maintenance concerns. Follow all safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements at all times. Pick and retrieve products using pick lists, RF scanners, and system-directed methods. Verify product descriptions, quantities, and storage locations to ensure accurate order fulfillment. Pack, label, and stage orders to minimize damage and support efficient shipment. Maintain established accuracy, productivity, and quality standards in all assigned tasks. Handle materials using pallet jacks and other warehouse tools as needed. Support shipping and receiving activities, including sorting, loading, and unloading shipments. Perform general warehouse labor such as assembly, material handling, and inventory-related tasks. Enter and update data accurately in warehouse systems as required. Essential Skills At least 1 year of forklift operating experience. Proven ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment such as forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, and turret trucks. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs on a regular basis. Experience with order picking and packing in a warehouse or distribution environment. Hands-on experience with RF scanners for picking, inventory, and order verification. Knowledge of basic inventory control and shipping and receiving processes. Ability to use pallet jacks and other material handling equipment. Strong attention to detail to verify product descriptions, quantities, and locations. Ability to maintain productivity and accuracy standards in a fast-paced setting. Basic data entry skills for updating warehouse and inventory systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in general labor and warehouse production environments. Background in material handling, sorting, packaging, and order picking. Familiarity with loading and unloading trailers or trucks. Experience with assembly tasks in a warehouse setting. Comfort working with shipping and receiving operations. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to meet operational goals. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a distribution center environment that involves regular material handling, loading, unloading, and order fulfillment activities. You will work on-site using powered industrial equipment such as forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, turret trucks, and pallet jacks, as well as RF scanners and warehouse systems. The role requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work on your feet throughout the shift. Available shifts include a first shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and a second shift from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The setting is fast-paced, with a focus on safety, organization, and efficient movement of products. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Solon, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
