Material Handler Goodwill Industries of Wayne & Holmes Counties is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Material Handler to support our production and logistics operations. This hands-on role is essential to keeping materials moving efficiently, work areas organized, and production running smoothly. Position Summary The Material Handler is responsible for safely handling materials and operating pallet jacks, electric pallet jacks, and tow motors. This position works closely with Production Coordinators to ensure workstations are properly set up, materials are moved efficiently, and production areas remain clean, organized, and safe.
What You'll Do:
Material Handling & Production Support Set up workstations as directed by the Production Coordinator or Production Supervisor. Move production materials to workstations and transport assembled products to weigh scales or finished inventory storage areas. Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently. Operate tow motors continuously throughout the shift. Prepare skids, label pallets, and operate the stretch wrap machine. Load and operate the cardboard baling machine. Consolidate pallets and remove excess boxes and materials as needed. Assist with production jobs and quality inspections when required. Support end-of-day shutdown procedures, including checking doors and turning off lights. Safety, Organization & Teamwork Keep production areas orderly and free of unnecessary boxes and packaging materials. Follow all safety procedures, work rules, and operational policies. Maintain a professional and respectful working relationship with consumers, staff, customers, and supervisors. Communicate clearly and effectively with team members.
What You Bring:
Education & Experience High School diploma or GED preferred. Minimum of two years' experience driving a manual transmission truck. Experience operating a forklift required. Certifications Forklift and Electric Pallet Jack certification required (or ability to obtain). Physical Requirements Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis. Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift. Additional Requirements Must pass a background check. Must pass a drug and alcohol screening prior to employment.
