Material Handler Job Description The Material Handler supports first-shift warehouse operations from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., providing shipping, receiving, storage, and order fulfillment services for finished goods, inventory, materials, supplies, parts, and equipment at the assigned facility. This role ensures accurate, timely movement of products while maintaining high quality standards and following established procedures and customer requirements. Responsibilities Pick, pack, sort, arrange, count, store, and process items for storage and shipment in accordance with established procedures and customer requirements, ensuring accuracy and on-time delivery. Receive materials and finished goods daily, verifying that the quality, type, and quantity of materials are correct and that appropriate documentation, such as packing lists, is complete and accurate. Safely operate distribution equipment, including powered industrial trucks, stand-up forklifts, order pickers, and stand-up pallet jacks, as required for warehouse operations. Navigate and use ERP systems (such as QAD ERP), email (Outlook), and shipping software to support daily warehouse and logistics functions. Follow all policies, procedures, and instructions consistently and independently to meet schedules and productivity goals. Recognize and respond appropriately to deviations from accepted practices in routine, repetitive work situations, maintaining accuracy in all tasks. Support inventory control activities by handling materials, finished goods, and supplies in a manner that maintains accurate stock levels and records. Maintain strong attendance and arrive prepared to start work on time each day, adhering to assigned schedules and shift requirements. Participate in equipment and process training through one-on-one instruction, on-the-job training, standard training protocols, and other training documentation. Work safely and continuously while walking, standing, reaching, lifting up to 45 pounds, and pushing or pulling up to 25 pounds throughout the shift. Adapt to varying schedules, hours, shifts, and overtime as needed, with advance notice of shift changes. Communicate effectively with team members and provide courteous service to internal and external customers to support smooth warehouse operations. Essential Skills High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 1-2 years of consistent warehouse experience in material handling, logistics, shipping, and receiving. Ability to operate powered industrial trucks and warehouse equipment at various heights, with comfort working at height. Basic computer skills, including the ability to navigate ERP systems (QAD ERP preferred), Outlook, and shipping software. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in picking, packing, counting, and documentation. Ability to follow policies, procedures, and instructions consistently and independently while meeting schedules. Effective communication and customer service skills in a warehouse and logistics environment. Physical ability to walk, stand, reach, lift up to 45 pounds, and push or pull up to 25 pounds on a continuous basis. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in logistics within a life science environment is preferred. Stand-up forklift, order picker, and stand-up pallet jack experience is preferred. Ability to understand and interpret team metrics related to warehouse performance. Comfort working in repetitive, routine work situations while maintaining quality and productivity. Ability to work any shift with advance notice of shift changes and flexibility to work varying schedules, hours, and overtime as needed. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a warehouse environment with a noise level that is usually moderate to high. Work is highly repetitive and performed primarily while standing, with frequent walking, reaching, lifting up to 45 pounds, and pushing or pulling up to 25 pounds throughout the shift. Approximately 15% of the time will be spent in a Class 7 cleanroom area, where a smock is worn as part of the standard attire. The position requires flexibility to work any shift with advance notice of shift changes, as well as varying schedules, hours, and overtime as needed. The working environment can involve varying degrees of stress during the day, and training on equipment and procedures is provided through one-on-one instruction, on-the-job training, and standardized training protocols. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Hillsboro, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
