Job Description
General Laborer NextGen Armor | Butler, PA Position Overview NextGen Armor is seeking a dependable, hands-on General Laborer to support manufacturing operations and facility upkeep. Responsibilities include assisting with routine machine maintenance, sandblasting, building cleaning, assembly, and other production support tasks. This position is a good fit for someone who enjoys varied work, takes pride in a clean and organized workplace, and is willing to learn new skills.
Key Responsibilities Machine Maintenance Support:
Assist with equipment cleaning, lubrication, basic inspections, and other routine preventive maintenance tasks as trained and authorized. Report equipment problems to the appropriate supervisor.Sandblasting and Surface Preparation:
Prepare and clean metal parts using abrasive blasting equipment and other approved methods. Follow work instructions to achieve the required surface condition and protect areas that should not be blasted.Building Cleaning and Upkeep:
Clean and maintain production areas, common spaces, and other assigned areas of the facility. Sweep floors, remove debris, empty waste containers, and keep walkways and work areas clear.Assembly:
Assist with assembling components and finished products using hand tools, power tools, fixtures, and provided work instructions.Material Handling:
Move, organize, and stage materials, parts, and supplies for production. Operate powered material-handling equipment only when trained and authorized.Quality and Documentation:
Check work for visible defects, maintain part identification, and complete required production records or checklists.Safety:
Follow required safety procedures, including proper personal protective equipment, safe equipment operation, and applicable equipment shutdown and energy-isolation procedures. Do not perform repairs or maintenance beyond assigned training and authorization.General Production Support:
Assist production and maintenance personnel with related tasks as assigned, adjusting to changing priorities. Required Qualifications Dependability, consistent attendance, and a willingness to perform a variety of hands-on tasks. Ability to understand and follow work instructions and safety procedures. Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to use common hand tools safely. Attention to detail and a commitment to quality and workplace cleanliness. Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and cooperate with other team members. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in manufacturing, general labor, assembly, abrasive blasting, equipment maintenance, or facility cleaning is preferred. Physical Requirements and Work Environment This position involves working in a manufacturing environment and performing tasks that may require standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, and moving materials. Employees may work around machinery, noise, dust, and metal surfaces and must use required protective equipment. Essential job functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation. Appropriate lifting assistance and material-handling equipment must be used when needed.
