Description:
Hiring 1st shift Forklift Operator / Equipment Operator in York PA! Job Description This role is a day-shift Material Handler / Forklift Operator position at an industrial shop, responsible for safely moving, loading, and unloading materials using forklifts, overhead cranes, and a Pettibone. The position supports structural and miscellaneous steel production by ensuring materials are handled efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment. Responsibilities Operate forklifts to move, load, and unload materials and products throughout the yard and shop. Use overhead cranes to safely lift, position, and transport heavy materials within the facility. Operate a Pettibone and act as a yard jockey to maneuver materials and support loading and unloading of trucks. Handle material in and out of trucks and designated storage areas, ensuring proper placement and organization. Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions to understand material requirements and movement. Accurately read a tape measure down to 1/32" to verify material dimensions and ensure correct cuts and placements. Use basic computer skills to track materials, document movements, and support production and shipping processes. Essential Skills Proven experience operating forklifts in an industrial or warehouse environment. Hands-on experience using overhead cranes to move heavy materials safely. Ability to operate a Pettibone or similar material handling equipment. Capability to read a tape measure accurately down to 1/32". Basic blueprint reading skills to understand material specifications and requirements. Material handling experience, including loading and unloading trucks and organizing yard or shop inventory. Computer skills sufficient to enter data, track materials, and follow digital work instructions.
