Responsible for the humane slaughter and processing of livestock, preparing animal carcasses for retail and customer sale. Duties include breaking down carcasses, removing bones and unwanted portions, trimming and cleaning meat, and producing a variety of fresh meat cuts such as pork chops, steaks, roasts, ribs, ground meat, and other specialty cuts.
Responsibilities:
Safely and humanely slaughter livestock according to proper procedures. Skin, eviscerate, and prepare animal carcasses for processing. Break down whole carcasses into manageable sections. Cut, trim, debone, and portion meat according to customer and store specifications. Prepare steaks, pork chops, roasts, ribs, ground meat, and other cuts. Operate and properly maintain knives, saws, grinders, and other meat-processing equipment. Package, label, weigh, and store finished meat products. Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work area. Follow all food-safety, sanitation, and workplace-safety regulations. Inspect meat for quality and properly handle and store products. Assist customers with special cutting or processing requests when needed. Perform other duties related to meat processing and butcher-shop operations.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in butchering, meat cutting, or livestock processing preferred. Ability to safely use knives, meat saws, grinders, and other equipment. Strong attention to detail and ability to produce consistent cuts. Ability to work in a cold, wet, and physically demanding environment. Ability to lift and move heavy items (at least 50lbs) and stand for extended periods. Dependable, hardworking, and able to work independently or as part of a team. Knowledge of proper sanitation and food-handling practices is preferred.
Pay:
$13.00 - $15.00 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 - 40.0 per week
