$18.00•$20.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications Position Summary We are looking for an experienced and dependable Material Handler / Heavy Equipment Operator to operate a Liebherr 922 Material Handler at our scrap and salvage yard. The primary responsibility of this position is to operate the machinery safely and efficiently while dismantling vehicles, handling scrap and metal, and loading dumpsters with various types of materials. This is a full-time, hands-on position that requires the operator to spend most of the workday inside the machine and be comfortable operating heavy equipment for extended periods. Responsibilities Operate a Liebherr 922 Material Handler safely and efficiently. Dismantle vehicles and remove various parts and materials. Handle and sort scrap metal, automotive parts, vehicles, and other materials. Load and unload dumpsters using the material handler. Move, organize, and position scrap and materials throughout the yard. Safely handle heavy and bulky materials. Assist with vehicle processing and dismantling operations. Perform daily equipment inspections and report any mechanical or safety issues. Follow all company safety procedures and operating guidelines. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Perform other related duties as needed. Requirements Previous experience operating heavy equipment is required. Experience operating a material handler, excavator, or similar heavy equipment is strongly preferred. Experience working with scrap metal, salvage vehicles, automotive parts, or recycling materials is a plus. Heavy equipment certification or operator's license is preferred . Ability to safely operate machinery around vehicles, materials, coworkers, and customers. Good understanding of workplace safety procedures. Reliable, responsible, and punctual. Ability to work independently and follow instructions. Ability to work outdoors and in changing weather conditions. Important Job Information This position requires the employee to operate heavy machinery for most of the workday . The operator must be comfortable sitting in and operating the Liebherr 922 for extended periods while performing repetitive and physically demanding material-handling operations. The job involves working with scrap metal, vehicles, automotive parts, dumpsters, and other heavy materials . Safety, attention to detail, and proper equipment operation are extremely important. Candidates with the required experience and a strong background operating heavy equipment are encouraged to apply. Certifications or licenses related to heavy equipment operation are a plus. Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is: Experienced in operating heavy equipment. Safety-conscious and attentive. Reliable and punctual. Comfortable operating machinery for extended periods. Familiar with scrap, metal, vehicles, and automotive materials. Able to work independently and as part of a team. Responsible when operating equipment around people and other machinery. Willing to work outdoors in different weather conditions.
