Freedom Boat Club of Hampton Roads is looking for reliable, motivated team members to help keep our docks running smoothly and make sure our members have a great experience every time they visit. Our Dock Hands are an important part of the member experience. You'll spend your day on the waterfront helping prepare boats, assisting members, keeping the docks organized, making sure everything is ready for the next trip and you learn how to drive a boat! What You'll Be Doing Every day on the dock can be a little different.

Your responsibilities may include:

Helping members safely board and return from their boating trips Assisting with boat movements, docking, and launching Guiding boats and helping maintain an order on the docks Fueling and preparing boats for member use Cleaning and checking boats between trips Making sure boats and dock areas are clean, stocked, and ready to go Welcoming members and providing friendly, helpful service Performing basic boat and equipment checks Following established safety procedures and reporting concerns to management Assisting coworkers with other dock and marina tasks as needed What Makes Someone Successful in This Role We're looking for someone who is dependable, willing to learn, and enjoys working as part of a team.

The ideal candidate will:

Show up on time and be someone the team can count on Enjoy working outside Be comfortable staying active and on their feet throughout a shift Have a positive attitude and enjoy interacting with members Pay attention to details and take pride in keeping things clean and organized Be able to follow directions and established safety procedures Stay calm and productive when the docks get busy Be willing to learn basic boating, boat handling, and marina procedures Be able to obtain a Virginia Boater Safety Certificate through an approved online course Previous boating or marina experience is helpful, but not required. We are willing to train the right person.
