Job Description

Overview The Logistics, Stores, and Material Operative is responsible for the day-to-day execution of inventory, material handling, goods receipt, production kitting, packing, shipping, and logistics activities as assigned. The position ensures materials and products are accurately accounted for, maintained in good condition, stored in accordance with best practices, controlled, picked, packed, and dispatched to support production requirements and customer delivery timelines. The incumbent works closely with Planning, Procurement, Production, Quality, and Logistics teams to support inventory accuracy, material availability, shipping compliance, and the safe, efficient movement of materials throughout the business.
Responsibilities:
  • Receive, inspect, stock, identify, and manage inventory in accordance with established procedures
  • Ensure all inventory is accurately located, labelled and maintained within designated storage areas
  • Perform ERP transactions and inventory updates as required
  • Assist with cycle counting, stock checks, and inventory audits as necessary
  • Report on discrepancies, damaged materials, or inventory concerns to the Supervisor
  • Support traceability and inventory control requirements
  • Conduct basic visual inspection of incoming materials for signs of damage, incorrect items, or non-conformances
  • Escalate discrepancies, shortages, damage, or paperwork concerns
  • Accurately process goods receipt transactions within company systems
  • Identify opportunities to improve material flow and reduce waste
  • Perform manual handling activities in accordance with company training and procedures
  • Pick, prepare, package, and label customer shipments in accordance with customer and company specifications
  • Visually inspect products, packaging, and shipping documentation for accuracy prior to shipment being dispatched
  • Verify shipment contents against delivery documentation prior to release
  • Assist with preparation of Delivery Notes, Packing Lists, Commercial Invoices, Shipping Labels, Export Documentation (as deemed necessary)
  • Coordinate with Operations, Supply Chain, and Logistics teams to ensure shipments are supported correctly and shipping in a timely manner
  • Communicate with various logistics vendors and freight companies as required to support effective distribution of product
  • Maintain shipment records and ensure information is accurately entered into company systems
  • Perform corrective actions relating to inventory, logistics, quality, and operational issues per company standards and direction
Education/Work Experience:
  • Completion of High School via diploma or GED
  • 2-5+ years in shipping or logistics required
  • 2+ years in inventory or control required
  • Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Forklift certification preferred
  • 2+ years in global shipping preferred
Physical Demands:
While performing duties, the employee may be required to sit for periods of time at a computer or desk, work with their hands to assemble, pack, or process boxes; stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel and crouch to process shipments. The employee must frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 75 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Capabilities/Skills:
  • Possess a basic understanding of import/export, proper documentation, and shipping processes
  • Possess an awareness of customs, freight forwarding, and international logistics processes
  • Maintain a high standard of workplace organization and 5S practices
  • Identify, report, and if applicable assist in implementation of process improvement opportunities
  • Follow all established health, safety, and environmental procedures
  • Support compliance with warehouse, logistics, transportation, customs, and quality requirements
  • Participate in training and competency assessments as required
  • Possess a growth mindset and participate in ongoing cross training sessions as assigned
  • Able to safely utilize warehouse and material handling equipment within scope of training
  • Able to communicate effectively through written and verbal methods
  • Able to perform basic mathematical calculations accurately
  • Computer skills should include intermediate proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, CRM software, ERP software and shipping vendor platforms
  • Able to adapt to a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Attention to detail and ability to correct as needed
  • Ability to prioritize workflow to effectively meet deadlines
  • Ability to learn, and stay up to date, with commercial shipping/packaging best practices; to include loading and unloading of trucks
  • Ability to learn product line
  • Ability to cross train as deemed appropriate or as assigned by leadership
  • Ability to take verbal and/or written instruction from supervisors
  • Ability to report to work on time and consistently
  • Ability to work overtime as required during periods of increased business activity.
  • Ability to effectively utilize a pallet jack and scissor lift
