Job Title:
Material Handler - Water Spider / Warehouse Logistics Specialist Job Description This role combines hands-on material handling with support for a precision machine shop. You will manage inventory using an MRP system, load and unload materials, and ensure accurate documentation of all movements. During the first half of the day, you will focus on material movement using forklifts and pallet jacks; during the second half, you will assist in the machine shop with deburring and sanding parts to support high-quality production. Responsibilities Complete full inventory counts of parts using an MRP system to accurately track materials and transactions. Load and unload ocean containers and trucks safely using a crowbar, claw hammer, and other appropriate hand tools. Operate forklifts, stock pickers, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move inventory and materials to and from warehouses and storage areas. Pick and stage inventory in accordance with sales orders, work orders, and material requisitions to ensure timely fulfillment. Manage manual and clerical tasks related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing, and delivering a variety of materials, equipment, and supplies. Maintain the stockroom in a clean, orderly, and organized manner to support efficient operations and easy access to inventory. Perform accurate data entry to record inventory movements, shipments, receipts, and other material transactions. Process incoming and outgoing shipments, including verification of contents, documentation, and system updates. Prepare and package spare parts and machine orders for shipping, including special assignments as required. Spend the first half of the day performing material movement tasks using forklifts and pallet jacks. Support the machine shop in the second half of the day by deburring and sanding parts to meet quality and finish standards. Follow all safety procedures and best practices when operating equipment and handling materials. Essential Skills Minimum 2 to 3 years of related inventory experience, including generating proper documentation for material movements and transactions. Proficiency using an MRP system or similar inventory management software to track parts and inventory activity. Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving, including processing incoming and outgoing shipments. Demonstrated ability in inventory control activities such as cycle counts and stock verification. Strong material handling skills, including loading, unloading, picking, packing, and staging inventory. Forklift operation experience and the ability to safely use pallet jacks, stock pickers, and hand trucks. Order picking experience in a warehouse or stockroom environment. Data entry skills with attention to accuracy and detail for inventory and shipping records. Valid driver's license. Ability to perform deburring and sanding tasks on parts in a machine shop environment. PC literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Ability to maintain an organized stockroom and follow established procedures for material handling and documentation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a manufacturing or machine shop environment. Familiarity with high-precision or industrial equipment and components. Comfort using basic hand tools such as crowbars and hammers for loading and unloading tasks. Ability to adapt between warehouse logistics tasks and hands-on shop support within the same shift. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple material handling and shipping tasks. Willingness to learn and use evolving software tools and inventory systems. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a manufacturing facility that produces precision waterjet machining systems. You will work in both warehouse and machine shop areas, handling materials, components, and finished parts. The environment includes the use of forklifts, pallet jacks, stock pickers, hand trucks, and various hand tools for loading and unloading containers and trucks. You will also work around machining equipment while performing deburring and sanding tasks on parts. The role follows a structured daily schedule, with the first half of the day focused on material movement and the second half supporting machine shop operations. You will use PC-based tools, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, as well as inventory and MRP systems, as part of your daily tasks. Expect a production-oriented setting where safety, organization, and adherence to procedures are essential. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kent, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
