Job Title:
General Laborer Job Description The General Laborer will support the construction of a new fruit storage facility from the ground up. This role involves working in an open-air, open-ground environment, assisting skilled workers with setting concrete forms, erecting walls, and performing a variety of construction tasks using basic hand tools and equipment. Responsibilities Assist with building a new fruit storage facility from the ground up, including foundational and structural work. Set and align concrete forms according to project specifications and instructions. Help stand up and secure walls and other structural components during new construction. Use a hammer safely and effectively for framing, fastening, and general construction tasks. Accurately read and interpret measurements using a tape measure and measuring square. Operate and use levels to ensure structures and forms are properly aligned and plumb. Support other construction workers and trades as a general helper on site. Work in an open-air, open-ground environment and adapt to changing site conditions. Use scissor lifts and other site equipment as directed, following all safety guidelines. Assist with general labor tasks such as material handling, basic production support, and packing as needed. Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle tools and equipment responsibly. Essential Skills Minimum of 2 years of real, hands-on construction experience. Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure for construction tasks. Proficient in swinging and using a hammer safely and effectively. Understanding of basic construction methods, processes, and tools. Ability to run and interpret a level to ensure proper alignment and plumb surfaces. Experience with new construction environments, including forming concrete and erecting walls. Comfort working with and assisting other construction workers and crews. Basic familiarity with scissor lifts and related construction equipment. Capability to perform general labor tasks in a physically demanding, outdoor setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Possession of a hammer and measuring square for daily use on the job. Experience in general labor roles within construction or production environments. Background in tasks such as packing or basic production support in a construction setting. Ability to follow directions from foremen and experienced crew members and work effectively as part of a team. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based entirely on a construction site in an open-ground, open-air environment. Work takes place on a large, multi-million-dollar fruit storage building project alongside 1-2 helpers and a full construction crew. You will work under the guidance of a construction foreman and experienced workers, using tools such as hammers, tape measures, levels, measuring squares, and scissor lifts. The work is physically demanding, requires comfort with outdoor conditions, and involves standard construction-site attire and safety gear appropriate for new construction activities. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Wallula, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
