Material Handler Position Summary The Material Handler plays a critical role in supporting safe, efficient, and accurate production operations at JR Metal Works. This position is responsible for receiving, staging, handling, and transporting materials; maintaining inventory flow; supporting fabrication activities; and ensuring materials and finished goods meet quality and documentation requirements. This is a progressive role, offering structured skill development, cross-training, and advancement opportunities within operations and manufacturing. Material Handler Core Responsibilities
- Promptly load and unload trucks and deliveries; sign for deliveries and inspect received goods for damage.
- Sort, label, and properly store materials on racks, shelves, or bins.
- Confirm delivery completion and material movement in the company's business system.
- Stage materials at machines as required to support efficient production flow.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate material needs to appropriate personnel.
- Ensure delivery areas, storage locations, and the storage yard are organized, accessible, and safe for employees and delivery traffic.
- Prepare accurate documentation related to inspections, materials, processes, and shipments.
- Properly package outgoing shipments and ensure all required shipment documentation is complete.
- Safely operate material movement equipment, including company forklifts.
- Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and company policies.
Night Shift I Information Schedule:
for regular full-time employees working the first night shift (Night Shift I), core workday/ hours are from 5 PM to 5 AM Sunday through Tuesday evenings. Overtime is available but not mandatory. Training may occur during the day shift. Day shift hours are 5 AM to 3 PM on Monday through Thursday. Night Shift Offerings Shift differential pay hours: for regular full-time employees working night shift, four (4) additional hours per week, at the employee's standard hourly rate, will be allotted to the employees' paycheck if the employee has physically worked 36 or more that week (WORK 36 HOURS, PAID FOR 40). Additionally, employees who regularly work either night shift receive shift differential pay of $1.50 per hour for night shift hours.
