Job Title:
Warehouse Worker Job Description The Warehouse Worker supports daily distribution center operations by safely handling merchandise, accurately fulfilling customer orders, and maintaining organized inventory. This role involves manual loading and unloading of trailers, picking and packing products, processing returns, and performing special projects as needed. The Warehouse Worker will be cross-trained in multiple departments to support changing business needs and help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment. Responsibilities Load and unload trailers manually while safely handling merchandise. Pick, inspect, and verify products to accurately fulfill customer orders. Prepare and package orders for shipment, ensuring quality, accuracy, and proper labeling. Stock, organize, and replenish inventory to maintain product availability. Route completed orders to the appropriate department or shipping area. Maintain and update pick locations using warehouse reports and inventory information. Sort, process, label, and ticket merchandise for distribution and retail locations. Process customer returns and ensure proper handling and documentation of returned products. Clean, inspect, and repair various reel models, including determining warranty eligibility when applicable. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the distribution center. Support special projects and perform additional duties as assigned based on distribution center needs. Participate in cross-training across departments to provide flexible operational support. Essential Skills At least 1 year of experience in loading and unloading, general labor, or warehouse operations. Experience with picking and packing orders in a warehouse or distribution center environment. Ability to use RF scanners for inventory, picking, and order processing. Proficiency in material handling, including safe movement and storage of merchandise. Ability to operate a forklift or willingness to work with forklift operations as required. Strong attention to detail when inspecting parts and verifying products against orders. Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, carrying, and moving products throughout the shift. Commitment to safety and maintaining a clean, organized work area. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in warehouse packing and shipping processes. Experience in processing returns and handling merchandise for retail or distribution. Ability to clean, inspect, and perform basic repairs on reel models or similar equipment. Comfort working with inventory reports and updating pick locations. Willingness to be cross-trained in multiple departments and support special projects. Availability to work 1st shift, Sunday through Wednesday, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with 10-hour shifts. Ability to work overtime, with overtime pay provided for hours worked over 40 in a week. Work Environment This role is based in a large distribution center environment that operates on a 1st shift schedule from Sunday to Wednesday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with 10-hour shifts. The work involves manual material handling, use of RF scanners, and interaction with warehouse equipment such as forklifts. The setting is fast-paced, focused on safety, organization, and cleanliness, with overtime opportunities available and overtime pay for hours worked beyond 40 per week. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Prairie Du Chien, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
