Job Title:

General Laborer Job Description The general laborer performs physically demanding work in an industrial grain-handling environment, supporting safe and efficient movement, storage, and loading of corn and corn by-products. This role involves working on and around rail cars, using tools to break up material blockages, and rotating through multiple operational areas within the facility. Responsibilities Work while safely harnessed to rail cars to perform cleaning and material-handling tasks on top of rail cars. Rake and move corn on top of rail cars to ensure even distribution and proper loading. Use a rodding pole to break up corn buildup and material blockages in bins and other storage areas. Perform physically demanding manual labor throughout the shift, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Unload corn from trucks and move it to the proper storage locations within the facility, following established procedures. Load corn by-products into trucks in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Operate conveyors, meters, and bulk weighers to facilitate accurate and efficient product loading. Rotate between key workstations, including the loading floor, silo operations, and loading bins with feed product that drops into trucks. Carry out housekeeping tasks in a dusty and dirty environment, including a significant amount of sanitizing and cleaning to maintain a safe and orderly facility. Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment, and report any hazards or equipment issues promptly. Essential Skills At least 1 year of experience in manufacturing, farming, or construction environments. Hands-on experience with general labor tasks in industrial, agricultural, or construction settings. Ability to perform physically demanding work for the duration of the shift, including working at heights while harnessed to rail cars. Experience using hand tools safely and effectively. Experience using power tools in an industrial or construction environment. Experience in manufacturing operations, including basic familiarity with production processes. Farming experience, including working with bulk agricultural products such as grain or feed. Construction experience, particularly in environments requiring adherence to strict safety standards. Ability to work in dusty, dirty conditions and perform regular sanitizing and housekeeping duties. Capability to follow detailed procedures and safety regulations when loading and unloading products. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with loading, shipping, and receiving operations. Familiarity with operating conveyors, meters, and bulk weighers in an industrial setting. Comfort working at heights and on top of rail cars while using a safety harness. Ability to rotate between multiple workstations and adapt to changing operational needs. Strong attention to safety and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Reliable attendance and willingness to work a set daytime schedule with limited overtime. Work Environment The role is based in an industrial facility focused on grain and feed product handling. Personal protective equipment is required and includes a hard hat, safety glasses, and ear plugs, with additional fall protection gear used when working harnessed on rail cars. Work involves exposure to noise, moving machinery, and outdoor conditions when working on or around rail cars and trucks. The position follows a first-shift schedule for a temporary assignment, running Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with limited overtime. Dress typically aligns with industrial work standards, emphasizing safety, durability, and compatibility with required protective equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Watertown, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
