Job Description

Position Summary The Hazardous Waste Coordinator serves as a key client‑facing representative for our firm, delivering regulated waste‑management services to our primary research‑intensive wet chemistry facility in Louisville, Colorado and to additional client sites in Boulder and the Northern Colorado region. This role manages hazardous chemical waste, biological waste, radioactive waste, and general laboratory waste streams while ensuring consistent, compliant, and professional service across all supported locations. The coordinator ensures all waste operations meet RCRA , Colorado hazardous waste regulations (6 CCR 1007‑3) , DOT hazardous materials transport requirements , and applicable biological and radiological standards. This position requires strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a service‑oriented mindset. Key Responsibilities Client‑Focused Waste Management Services Serve as the primary point of contact for waste‑management needs at client sites in Louisville, Boulder, and Northern Colorado. Provide responsive, professional support to client personnel, ensuring timely resolution of waste‑related questions and requests. Maintain consistent service standards, documentation, and communication across all supported locations. Hazardous Waste Determination & Classification Perform and document hazardous waste determinations using SDS review, process knowledge, and analytical data. Ensure determinations comply with RCRA and Colorado 6 CCR 1007‑3 requirements. Maintain determination records for all internal and client‑site waste streams. Chemical, Biological & Radioactive Waste Management Manage accumulation and storage of hazardous chemical waste , including flammables, corrosives, toxics, reactives, and mixed wastes. Oversee biological waste workflows (solid and liquid biohazard waste, autoclave coordination, packaging, and vendor pickup). Support radioactive waste handling, including segregation, labeling, decay‑in‑storage, and coordination with radiation‑safety personnel. Ensure proper segregation of incompatible waste streams across all categories. Routine Inspections & Compliance Oversight Conduct routine compliance inspections at the Louisville facility and client sites in Boulder and Northern Colorado. Document findings, track corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution. Maintain compliance with RCRA, Colorado regulations, DOT requirements, and applicable biological/radiological standards. Support internal audits and regulatory inspections. Regulatory & Client Reporting Prepare and submit required regulatory reports , including waste logs, inspection records, manifest reconciliations, and compliance documentation. Complete client‑specific reports , summaries, and compliance updates for serviced sites. Maintain accurate records for all waste streams and ensure retention schedules are met. Waste Shipment Coordination Schedule and coordinate hazardous waste pickups for Louisville, Boulder, and Northern Colorado client sites. Prepare and review manifests, LDR forms, container inventories, and waste profiles. Verify DOT‑compliant packaging, marking, labeling, and placarding. Reconcile manifests and maintain shipment records for all serviced locations. Training & Operational Support Provide training and guidance to laboratory personnel and client‑site staff on proper waste segregation, labeling, and handling. Maintain spill response materials and support emergency readiness. Assist with universal waste, used oil, and special waste categories. Required Qualifications Minimum 4 years of experience in hazardous waste management under RCRA . Familiarity with Colorado hazardous waste regulations (6 CCR 1007‑3) . Current DOT Hazardous Materials certification (or ability to obtain upon hire). Demonstrated experience performing hazardous waste determinations. Experience coordinating hazardous waste shipments and vendor scheduling. Experience handling biological waste and/or radioactive waste . Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to travel to client sites (regional, routine but not excessive). Ability to safely lift/move waste containers (up to ~40 lbs). Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting multiple facilities or clients. Experience in a research‑intensive wet chemistry laboratory. Knowledge of NFPA, IBC/IFC, and fire‑code requirements related to hazardous materials. Familiarity with universal waste, used oil, and special waste categories. Experience with electronic waste‑tracking systems or compliance software. $27.00 - $32.00 per hour
