Send job Job Details The City of South Portland is seeking one or more temporary interns to assist the Public Works Department with a citywide inventory and audit of municipal trash and recycling carts. The purpose of the project is to develop an accurate record of the City-owned carts currently assigned to residential properties receiving municipal curbside collection. This position is scheduled for up to 20 hours per week. Interns will visit every residential property receiving City trash and recycling collection and document the carts located at each property. The information collected will be used to update the City's cart inventory and customer records and identify discrepancies between field conditions and existing City records. Communication and interpersonal relation requirements include the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, keep essential records and to cooperate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and outside contacts. This position is expected to work up to 20 hours per week, over two to three months. The hourly wage for the Trash/Recycling Cart Audit Intern position is $18/hour.
