This role is responsible for weighing inbound and outbound vehicles, processing transactions accurately, maintaining compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and ensuring excellent customer service. The attendant serves as a key link between customers, drivers, and site operations while ensuring scalehouse records are accurate, organized, and compliant. 7:30 am - 5:30 pm with a 30-minute lunch Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned. Customer Interaction & Service Greet drivers and customers in a professional, courteous manner. Provide clear directions for entering, unloading, and exiting the facility. Answer customer questions related to acceptable materials, pricing, and facility rules. Handle complaints or direct them to a supervisor when necessary. Weighing & Transaction Processing Operate the scale system to accurately weigh inbound and outbound trucks. Enter data into the scale software to generate weight tickets. Verify material types, calculate disposal fees, and process payments (cash, credit, account billing). Balance daily cash drawer and prepare shift reconciliation reports. Safety & Compliance Inspect incoming loads visually to ensure no prohibited or hazardous materials are present. Verify that all customers and drivers are following site safety policies (e.g., use of PPE, safe driving speeds). Report unsafe loads, spills, or non-compliance issues immediately to management. Assist in traffic control to maintain safe vehicle flow at the scalehouse. Administration & Recordkeeping Maintain accurate, legible, and organized scalehouse records, tickets, and receipts. Perform regular filing, data entry, and submission of required reports. Monitor and update customer accounts in the system as needed. Assist management with reporting, audits, and compliance checks. Facility Support Keep the scalehouse clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies. Support site operations through communication with equipment operators, drivers, and supervisors. Assist in training new attendants if needed. Work occasional overtime or weekends as site volume requires. Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not include supervisory duties.
