Job Description

Under general supervision, responsible for directing members of the public in sorting and disposing of recyclable materials at the recycling center and maintaining the center in a clean, orderly condition.
  • Open and close the recycling center when assigned.
  • Assist residents by providing information related to recycling rules.
  • Direct residents to proper recycling containers and drop off areas.
  • Answer resident's questions
  • Report problems or needs to management
  • Report to work at the scheduled hour and work the entire assigned schedule.
  • Make sure customers do not leave unacceptable non-recyclable items at recycling center.
  • Document and report any illegal dumping of non-acceptable materials to supervisor or police when appropriate.
  • All other duties as may be assigned.
Requires a high school diploma or
GED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to communicate effectively, courteously and tactfully with staff, city officials and the public. Ability to work in a physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements for long and varying periods of time. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, reach, etc. frequently or occasionally. Ability to work harmoniously with others. This position is estimated to work approximately 25 hours per month during the hours of operation of the Recycle Center; hours may increase during the summer months.

Tuesdays and Thursdays:
10:00 a.m.
  • 7:00 p.
m.
Saturdays:
8:00 a.m.
  • 4:00 p.m. (December
  • March only)
