SAI Gulf currently operates three testing laboratories fully equipped to provide sample preparation and analytical services for dry bulk fuel commodities.

Position Summary:

SAI Gulf is seeking a Sample Technician / Wash Plant Sampler to join our operations team in Jasper, Alabama. This hands-on field position is responsible for collecting and preparing coal samples for laboratory analysis while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and professionalism. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, can perform physical work in an industrial environment, and is committed to following established operating and safety procedures.

Schedule:

Tuesday through Saturday, 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM Essential Responsibilities Collect representative coal samples for laboratory testing and analysis. Operate and maintain mechanical sampling systems. Perform manual sampling activities at wash plants, stockpiles, railcars, and other designated locations. Properly label and document samples, including date, time, location, and identifying information. Complete all required sampling reports and paperwork accurately and on time. Follow all company and customer safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements. Wear required PPE and maintain compliance with safety standards at all times. Maintain clean and organized work areas, sampling equipment, and walkways. Communicate job status, operational concerns, and safety issues to the Field Supervisor. Identify hazards, assess risks, and report accidents, incidents, and near misses immediately. Conduct all duties in accordance with company quality standards, policies, and procedures. Qualifications Required Must be at least 21 years of age. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Basic math and recordkeeping skills. Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Previous sampling, inspection, mining, industrial, manufacturing, construction, or material handling experience. Experience with equipment maintenance, power tools, hand tools, and industrial equipment. Experience working in outdoor environments and around heavy equipment. No prior sampling experience required. Training will be provided for the right candidate. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Stand and walk for extended periods. Work on uneven or unstable surfaces. Lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and materials. Bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, and shovel material. Climb stairs, ladders, and stockpiles. Work in varying weather conditions and temperatures. Perform physically demanding work in an industrial environment.
