As a Streets Technician, you'll perform essential construction, maintenance, and cleaning duties to keep the City of Frankfort functioning safely and efficiently under direct supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists in installing, constructing, repairing and/or cleaning City buildings, streets and roads, floodwalls, sidewalks, storm sewers, culverts, catch basins, manholes, drainage ditches, street signs, barricades, guard rails, etc. Paints curbs and parking lines. Mows grass; collects leaves; cuts weeds, trees and tree limbs. Assists in salting or otherwise treating streets and roads; removes snow. Assists in pouring concrete and making forms. Assists with paving and asphalt repairs. Performs general construction and maintenance duties. Provide safe and efficient operation of vehicles and equipment. Ensure work area is clean, and all equipment and tools are properly stored after use. Must be able to respond to after-hours emergencies such as weather events, etc. Operates both CDL and Non-CDL required light to heavy vehicles and equipment. Assists in performing public works duties in other Divisions and Departments as needed. Maintains clean and sanitary buildings, vehicles and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES
Work is thorough, timely and reflects follow-through to completion; Complies with departmental performance standards; Demonstrates willingness to undertake duties as assigned. This role is a great steppingstone into a skilled trade and public works career.
Work Experience:
None required. We provide all necessary on-the-job training.
Education:
High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
Special Requirements:
Must be capable of understanding oral and written instructions. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License at time of hire. .
Career Development:
Class A CDL with tanker endorsement must be obtained to pass the probationary period (training and certification costs paid by the employer).
Availability:
Must be capable of working periodic overtime and available to work on-call as scheduled. Work Environment & Physical Demands This is an active, demanding, and rewarding outdoor role: Must be able to perform extreme manual labor for long periods of time. Work involves standing, walking, stooping, and lifting objects in excess of 100 pounds. Work takes place outdoors regardless of weather conditions. Requires working near machinery and its moving parts. Applications will be accepted through September 3, 2026, or until the position is filled.
