Full‑time, Non‑Exempt ecomaine is seeking a reliable, safety‑focused Recycling Operator to support daily recycling operations by sorting materials, operating equipment, and keeping production running smoothly. This is a hands‑on role in a fast‑paced industrial environment with opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute to Maine's sustainability efforts. What You'll Do

• Sort and process recyclable materials.
• Operate balers, conveyors, front end loaders, forklifts, crushers, and other equipment.
• Maintain logs, documentation, and equipment records.
• Keep work areas clean, safe, and organized.
• Follow all safety rules, procedures, and Job Safety Analyses.
• Support unexpected cleanup, plowing, or coverage needs as required.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers, vendors, buyers, and the public.
• Perform other duties as assigned. What You Bring
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class C driver's license and insurability under company policy.
• Experience in recycling, waste handling, or industrial operations preferred.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work.
• Ability to recognize and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, or operational issues.
• Strong decision‑making, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a high‑productivity team.
• Ability to read and follow safety rules, material specifications, and written instructions.
• Experience operating plant equipment is a plus. Additional Requirements
• Pre‑placement physical and lifting assessment required.
