Full Job Description Description:
EIDS Cleaning & Consulting is seeking dependable, hardworking, and safety-focused Wash Bay Technicians to support sanitation operations within a food manufacturing facility. The Wash Bay Technician is responsible for the detailed cleaning and sanitizing of industrial machinery, equipment components, removable parts, utensils, racks, carts, and other production-related equipment within a designated wash bay. This is a hands-on, physically demanding position that requires attention to detail and the ability to consistently follow established sanitation procedures, cGMPs, food-safety requirements, chemical-handling procedures, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards. Technicians must be comfortable working around water, industrial cleaning chemicals, machinery, and in hot, wet, humid, noisy, and physically demanding conditions.
Requirements:
Clean and sanitize industrial machinery, equipment components, removable parts, utensils, racks, carts, and other production-related equipment within the wash bay. Follow established food-manufacturing sanitation procedures, including removing debris and heavy soils, pre-rinsing, applying approved cleaning chemicals and foam, manually scrubbing, thoroughly rinsing, inspecting, re-cleaning when necessary, and applying sanitizer as required. Brush, scrape, and remove food residue, buildup, and other soils from equipment and parts prior to the wet-cleaning process. Properly apply foam, detergents, and other approved cleaning chemicals according to established concentrations, application methods, and required contact times. Thoroughly scrub equipment and parts using approved brushes, scrapers, scrub pads, and other sanitation tools. Rinse equipment and parts thoroughly to remove soils and cleaning chemical residue. Inspect cleaned equipment and parts for remaining residue, buildup, or other unsanitary conditions and re-clean as necessary to meet established sanitation standards. Properly sanitize and stage cleaned equipment and parts to help prevent contamination or recontamination. Safely operate hoses, foamers, brushes, scrapers, scrub pads, and other approved wash bay and sanitation equipment. Follow established Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOPs), equipment-specific cleaning procedures, chemical-handling requirements, and food-safety standards. Maintain proper separation between soiled and cleaned equipment and parts. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe wash bay throughout the assigned shift. Identify and immediately report damaged equipment, chemical concerns, safety hazards, or potential food-safety issues to leadership. Complete required sanitation and operational documentation accurately and on time. Work cooperatively with sanitation, production, quality, maintenance, and other team members. Follow all EIDS Cleaning & Consulting and customer-site safety, sanitation, cGMP, and food-safety requirements. Perform additional sanitation-related duties as assigned. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) & cGMP Requirements Wash Bay Technicians are required to properly wear all assigned PPE. Depending on the task and work area, PPE may include: Face shields Safety goggles and/or safety glasses Chemical-resistant gloves Tyvek suits or other protective clothing Wash boots or chemical-resistant footwear Hearing protection Additional task-specific PPE as required Employees must comply with all applicable food-manufacturing cGMP requirements, including: Proper handwashing and personal hygiene practices Hairnets Beard nets when applicable Safety glasses Hearing protection as required Facility-approved clothing and footwear Proper use and maintenance of assigned PPE All other applicable contamination-prevention and food-safety requirements Physical & Work Environment Requirements Candidates must be able to: Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Occasionally handle items exceeding 50 pounds with appropriate assistance or equipment. Stand and walk for extended periods. Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, twist, and perform repetitive physical movements. Perform repetitive brushing, scraping, scrubbing, rinsing, and equipment-handling activities. Work safely in hot, wet, humid, noisy, and physically demanding conditions. Work around industrial machinery, water, cleaning chemicals, and sanitation equipment. Wear required PPE for extended periods. Safely work on wet or potentially slippery surfaces. Maintain attention to detail and productivity throughout the assigned shift. Qualifications Previous industrial sanitation, food manufacturing, wash bay, production, or equipment-cleaning experience is preferred but not required. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established sanitation procedures. Ability to safely use sanitation tools, equipment, and cleaning chemicals following required training. Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety and quality. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team. Ability to consistently follow safety procedures, SSOPs, cGMPs, chemical-handling requirements, and customer-site policies. Willingness to complete all required EIDS and customer-site safety, sanitation, chemical-handling, cGMP, and food-safety training. Ability to maintain a safety-first mindset while working in a fast-paced environment. What Success Looks Like Successful Wash Bay Technicians understand that in a food manufacturing environment, equipment cannot simply "look clean." Team members are expected to follow the complete cleaning and sanitation process, pay close attention to difficult-to-clean areas, identify and correct remaining soils or buildup, and ensure assigned equipment and parts meet established sanitation standards before being returned to service. We are looking for individuals who take pride in their work, understand the importance of food safety, communicate concerns when identified, and consistently contribute to a safe and sanitary manufacturing environment.
