The Wastewater Utility Worker I will work a forty (40) hour week. Mandatory overtime may be required by assignment from the supervisor. The forty (40) hour week will be from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The employee shall receive 1/2 hour for lunch, not paid.

Place of Work:

The Wastewater Utility Worker I is based at the Roth Lane Wastewater Treatment Plant.

General Description:

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide assistance in performing the tasks required to maintain a high-level maintenance program for treatment plant, pumping stations and collection system.

Essential Duties:

Assists in the maintenance and repair of equipment in plant, pumping stations and collection system. Assists with oil changes, lubrication, and other tasks associated with equipment preventative maintenance schedules. Cleans and maintains tanks, equipment and vehicles associated with wastewater operations. Participates in the Wastewater Division's call-out program and scheduled weekend and holiday shifts. Observes all safety rules and regulations of the Wastewater Treatment Division. Assists in air testing of main sewer lines. Assists with building repairs within the treatment plant and 25 pumping stations. Assists in the operation of equipment associated with the production of biosolids. Assists in snow removal. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. The ability to obtain a current PA Commercial Driver's License with air brake and tanker endorsements within four months from date of hire. (The Township participates in the federally mandated CDL Drug Testing program that may require pre-employment and subsequent random drug tests.) Applicants with current PA Commercial Driver's License are preferred. Applicant must be able to work flexible hours, including holidays and weekends, and participate in the Department's call-out program. Ability to understand and follow directions with minimal supervision. Current Confined Space Entry Certificate or ability to obtain within six months. Must lift objects up to 50 pounds waist high and work during adverse weather conditions.
