Job Title:
Utility Worker Job Description The Utility Worker plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic production environment within a food manufacturing facility. This position focuses on cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining equipment, while consistently following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and safe chemical handling guidelines to support high-quality and safe food production. Responsibilities Clean, sanitize, and maintain production equipment and surrounding areas to meet sanitation and food safety standards. Understand and apply safe chemical handling practices at all times, including proper use, storage, and disposal of cleaning agents. Follow all GMPs and SOPs precisely to ensure compliance with food manufacturing regulations and internal quality standards. Disassemble equipment parts according to established cleaning procedures to ensure thorough sanitation of all components. Reassemble equipment correctly after cleaning, verifying that all parts are securely and properly installed for safe operation. Support food production activities by maintaining a clean and organized work area that minimizes contamination risks. Perform routine sanitation tasks throughout the shift to prevent buildup of debris and maintain hygienic conditions. Adhere to all safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines within the manufacturing environment. Communicate any equipment or sanitation issues promptly to appropriate personnel to prevent disruptions in production. Maintain accurate adherence to assigned schedules and tasks during 12-hour shifts, ensuring consistent sanitation coverage. Essential Skills Previous sanitation experience within a food manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience with cleaning and sanitizing production equipment in food production or food manufacturing settings. Knowledge of sanitation practices and procedures in a food production facility. Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Understanding of HACCP principles related to sanitation and food safety. Ability to safely handle and work with cleaning chemicals in a manufacturing environment. Experience working in a production or manufacturing environment with established hygiene and safety standards. Capability to disassemble and reassemble equipment components according to cleaning procedures. Strong attention to detail to ensure thorough cleaning and proper sanitation. Reliability in attendance and performance, especially during contract-to-hire periods. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with food production processes and workflows in a manufacturing setting. Comfort working in a temperature-controlled manufacturing environment. Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a 2-day schedule (6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.). Willingness to wear and comply with GMP-required PPE at all times. Ability to work effectively as part of a larger team within a facility of approximately 360 employees. Strong work ethic and commitment to maintaining high sanitation and safety standards. Work Environment This role is based in a brand-new, temperature-controlled manufacturing facility with approximately 360 employees on site. The environment is designed to be very safe, with clear GMP and PPE guidelines that require appropriate protective equipment to be worn at all times. The position follows a 2-day, 12-hour shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The work involves operating within a structured production setting focused on food manufacturing, where cleanliness, organization, and adherence to sanitation protocols are central to daily activities. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Throop, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
