Job Description:
As a Sanitation Technician, you play a critical role in ensuring that our ice production facility remains clean, safe, and in compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and OSHA standards. You will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all equipment, machinery, and work areas to ensure a hygienic production environment. The role requires close collaboration with the production team to support continuous operations and a proactive approach to maintaining a safe work environment.
Duties:
Facility and Equipment Cleaning Tasks:
Sweep and mop all floors after the harvest is complete. Clean and sanitize all appliances, tables, sinks, and high-touch surfaces. Empty trash bins and replace liners at the beginning and end of each shift. Organize snacks, coffee, and other breakroom items. Refill soap and sanitizer dispensers, as well as paper towel stations at the start of each shift. Wash, dry, and pair up all dirty gloves. Refill hair nets and beard nets at the beginning and end of the shift. Clean and wipe down all sinks and equipment in the harvest room. Clean and wipe down the mop sink area and hang mops and brooms in their designated places. Wipe down the RO system and ice maker. At the start of each shift, collect all dirty gloves and suits and take them to the break room for washing. Wash, rinse, and sanitize any operational tools used in the harvest process (e.g., buckets, measuring tools). Organize items by the computer station. Clean the locker station area. Wipe down all Cline-Bell machines with a sanitizer solution.
Outside Harvest Area:
Sweep and mop the box aisle. Clean the exterior of the freezer and surrounding areas (if needed). Clean all tabletops outside the freezer that belong to Fat Ice. Break down and discard any empty boxes. At the beginning of each shift, fill all designated mats with Quantum solution. Wipe down all windows and doors inside the Fat Ice facility.
Additional Tasks:
Once the small blue bins from production are empty, wash, rinse, and sanitize them before returning them to the production floor. Maintain cleanliness of the facility in line with company and regulatory sanitation standards, ensuring floors, walls, drains, and high-touch surfaces are properly cleaned. Disassemble and reassemble production equipment for thorough cleaning, ensuring equipment is functional once cleaned. Perform routine facility inspections to identify and address safety or sanitation hazards promptly. Handle, store, and use cleaning chemicals in compliance with OSHA and company safety guidelines. Maintain and update sanitation logs and records to track cleaning tasks and schedules. Work with the production team to ensure equipment is available for cleaning without interrupting production schedules. Support quality control by addressing sanitation concerns and resolving non-compliance issues. Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date with company procedures and regulatory requirements. Help maintain an organized and clutter-free workspace to promote safety and efficient operations.
Requirements:
Be comfortable working part or all of your shift in a freezer—we'll provide the cold weather gear! Stand for extended periods and perform repetitive movements such as bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Lift and carry up to 50 lbs . regularly. Maintain situational awareness and adhere to company and regulatory safety protocols. Have a flexible schedule, including availability for overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays. Qualifications and Skills A food handler's permit (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire). Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow technical specifications. Keep an open line of communication with management about breaks and mealtimes. Bring strong communication and people skills to the team.
