Job Description

SUMMARY:
The Sanitation Technician is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing production and nonproduction areas of the plant, as outlined in the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS), working to prevent product contamination and adulteration, following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), SSOPs, and Food Safety. This role plays a key part in maintaining a safe and hygienic environment to support high-quality food production.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Clean and sanitize production equipment, floors, walls, and other facility areas according to established schedules and procedures. Disassemble and assemble equipment for proper and safe cleaning /sanitizing such as conveyor belts, rollers, valves, tanks, and operating equipment. Handle cleaning chemicals safely and according to manufacturer and company guidelines. Use sanitation equipment such as pressure washers, foaming systems, and chemical sprayers. Maintain accurate cleaning and sanitation logs for regulatory compliance. Inspect cleaned equipment and report deficiencies to the Sanitation Lead or Supervisor prior to production start-up. Dispose of waste and by-products properly and safely. Work closely with maintenance and production teams to identify and correct sanitation or equipment issues. May also support non-production area sanitation, including offices, hallways, locker rooms, and break rooms, as assigned. Follow all company safety and food safety procedures, including the use of PPE. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education :
High School Diploma or GED.
Experience:
0-1 years of prior experience in industrial cleaning with the use of industrial power-washing equipment and chemical cleaning a plus, and/or janitorial services cleaning.
Certifications:
None
REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of cleaning and sanitizing chemicals and safe handling procedures. Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety and quality. Ability to perform basic math, including counting, measurements, and following dilution instructions. Ability to read and follow written instructions, safety procedures, and sanitation schedules. Must be willing to use a ladder, and work from heights. Must be able to work extended hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
WORK SCHEDULE
This position primarily supports second & third shift sanitation operations. During initial ramp-up and periods of high operational demand, extended workweeks may be required.
Block A:
Monday-Saturday, 6:00 PM•2:30 AM;
Block B:
Monday-Saturday, 10:00 PM•6:30 AM Sunday coverage: 6:00 PM-2:30 AM•on a rotational or as-needed basis Hours may fluctuate according to production needs and overtine as needed.
RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports directly to the Sanitation Supervisor. The Sanitation Technician works closely with other team members.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sanitation Technician must be able to lift 40-60 lbs with or without assistance. Exposure to manufacturing environments for periodic extended workdays including loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, and slippery conditions, with heavy machinery and equipment. Additionally, this role requires shift work, weekends, and all required overtime as needed. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and stretch. This job requires the employee to be able to read, write and communicate verbally in English. The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
