Job Description
The City of Midland is seeking a dependable and driven Wastewater Treatment Plant Trainee ready to grow their career in public service. Operates and maintains primary treatment equipment and observes the operation of related plant equipment. Reads gauges, records information and reports problems to the Operator, or other supervisors. Performs janitorial and grounds keeping duties in assigned areas. Performs related duties as assigned. Ability to sit, stand and transport self from building to building. Ability to drive a vehicle to and from various work sites. Employee will work in seasonal temperatures bending, lifting, kneeling, twisting and climbing in order to operate and maintain plant equipment. Employee can work with potential mechanical, chemical and electrical hazards while collecting samples. Employee may be exposed to communicable diseases while handling raw sewage.
Ability to effectively communicate with employees and supervisors on plant condition and in order to receive work orders or instructions for any project. Ability to read operator's manuals, gauges and work orders to collect samples for analysis. Skill in writing to record results. Shift work required. High school diploma or equivalent required plus ability to obtain C operator's certification from the TNRCC within established time constraints. Valid Texas Driver's License.
