E1 Job Description Mecklenburg County is seeking a dependable and hardworking Collection Technician to join the Landfill Department. This full-time position supports refuse collection operations, maintains County equipment, and assists with landfill and convenience site operations. - Ride on collection vehicles and assist with the safe and efficient collection of solid waste from designated County dumpster locations in accordance with established routes, County procedures, and safety standards.
- Clean and maintain collection vehicles, including washing windows, cleaning truck bodies and collection equipment.
- Assist with preventative maintenance on collection vehicles and equipment, including greasing, oil changes, and routine servicing as directed.
- Support operations at the County landfill and convenience sites, including mowing, weed-eating, litter control, and grounds maintenance.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas and follow all County safety policies and procedures.
- Operate equipment safely after receiving appropriate training.
- Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid Virginia driver's license required.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, climbing, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to public service.
