Job Description
Job Summary The County of Greene is seeking a part-time Equipment Operator for the Solid Waste Facility. Candidate will perform intermediate semiskilled work operating heavy equipment in the operation and maintenance of the solid waste facility, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Director of Facilities Operations and Services. Essential Functions Operates a frontend loader, bobcat, and/or tractor trailer to load and move trash to proper location; estimates weight per load of trash; removes and replaces full containers ready for baling; hooks and unhooks trailers; moves trucks to designated site. Separates and bales materials and recyclables; inspects trash for recyclables. Directs traffic into transfer station; greets customers and provides assistance. Pumps waste liquids from holding tanks. Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs on trucks and equipment. Performs ground maintenance activities to include mowing grass, gathering brush and weed eating; keeps landfill cap free of trees. Performs snow removal tasks at Sheriff's office. Performs road maintenance for facility; clears roads of debris. Mops, sweeps and powerwashes floors; picks up trash from loading dock, grounds and buildings; cleans trash building. Serves as back-up Scale Operator when necessary.
