Don't have a Commercial Driver's License? No problem! We can train you!
Work Schedule :
Sunday
  • Thursday, 9:00 p.m.
  • 7:00 a.m. (40 hours per week). Summer Hours!!: Sun day
  • Thursday, 8:00 p.m.
  • 6:00 a.
m. T hree day weekends during the summer!! No residency requirement, however Public Works employees are required to respond to call-ins within 30 minutes. Examples of Duties Operates street sweeper or flusher, sidewalk equipment and all other equipment as required. Responsible for and performs daily maintenance on equipment, including refueling, greasing, washing and minor repairs. Makes changeovers on equipment as required. Reports all mechanical difficulties to the Motor Equipment Section immediately. Changes gutter brooms and helps mechanic with the main brooms. Trains employees as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. Experience operating heavy equipment or related experience desirable. Valid Commercial Driver's License and a good driving record. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of the principles, practices and safety precautions of street equipment. Ability to operate a sweeper, flusher, and other related equipment. Ability to utilize a computer and the required software. Ability to follow oral and written orders. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public. Ability to work the required hours of the position. May be required to demonstrate minimum competency by successfully passing approved tests. Physical Requirements Ability to perform the following activities: Lifting up to 50 pounds. Carrying up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lifts and carries up to 100 pounds with assistance. Frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending and stooping. Ability to reach and climb. Ability to work in varied environmental conditions.
