TRANSFER LIST
Transfer is defined as the movement of an employee from one position to another position within the same class in another department . To be eligible for the transfer list for a particular classification, you must meet ALL of the following requirements: Current City of Berkeley employee In the career service for the same classification (i.e. NOT temporary, provisional, etc.) Completed the probationary period in your current classification
REINSTATEMENT LIST
Reinstatement is defined as the restoration without examination of a former permanent or probationary employee to a class from which the employee was separated from service. To be eligible for the reinstatement list for a particular classification, you must meet ALL of the following requirements: Former City of Berkeley employee Previously in the career service for the classification (i.e. NOT temporary, provisional, etc.) Resigned from the classification within the past three years (OK to have probationary status at the time of resignation)
RETIRED ANNUITANT
CalPERS retirees may be reemployed to work as temporary hourly employees where their skills are required by a City department, not to exceed 960 hours in a year. The duration of Retired Annuitant appointments is up to one year. Certain waiting periods and other eligibility requirements may apply, and can be found online here.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT PROCESS
Candidates under final consideration for employment with the City will undergo an employment background check that may include, but is not limited to: confirmation of employment history, educational credentials and degrees, certificates, registrations, and licenses including driver's license; credit check; criminal history check; and Live Scan fingerprinting.
