This is a 12‑month professional position within Concord University's Student Affairs Division. This role is responsible for coordinating and advancing the University's Campus Recreation, Intramurals, Wellness initiatives, and Summer Conferencing operations. The Coordinator oversees the planning, organization, supervision, and evaluation of all intramural sports programs for students, faculty, and staff. The position manages daily operations of the Concord University Fitness Center, supports Outdoor Programming efforts, and develops campus‑wide wellness initiatives that promote health, engagement, and community well‑being. As part of the Student Affairs team, the Coordinator also collaborates with and cross‑trains within the Student Center Office and Campus Post Office to support shared departmental functions and the broader mission of the division. Duties and Responsibilities Duty/Responsibility Intramural program leadership — Direct, organize, supervise, and evaluate all intramural sports programs for students, faculty, and staff. Facilities management — Serve as a facilities manager for intramural events, the Fitness Center, and Summer Conferencing activities, including site supervision, securing and closing facilities, and overseeing the use of various campus spaces. Student staff oversight — Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate student assistants for Intramurals and the Fitness Center. Budget administration — Manage the Intramural and Fitness Center budgets; authorize equipment purchases, repairs, and replacements. Operational documentation — Create and maintain an Intramural Operations Manual outlining policies, procedures, and program standards. Marketing and promotion — Promote intramural programs through marketing strategies, including social media, campus outreach, and digital communication. Program scheduling — Coordinate and schedule intramural activities using Concord University facilities, fields, and recreation spaces. Program development — Provide a wide range of high‑quality indoor and outdoor intramural opportunities, including team sports, individual/dual competitions, tournaments, leagues, and fitness challenges for students, faculty, and staff. Event supervision — Attend and supervise intramural events; officiate games when necessary. Campus wellness initiatives — Develop, promote, and facilitate campus wellness programs through the Intramurals Office. Professional engagement — Maintain active membership in a national intramural or recreation organization. Fitness Center operations — Ensure proper operation, safety, and maintenance of Fitness Center equipment and facilities. Recordkeeping — Maintain accurate records of participation, equipment inventory, and program usage. Technology management — Develop and maintain online registration systems for events, leagues, and fitness programming. Outdoor recreation programming — Collaborate with the Office of Student Activities to develop, promote, and facilitate outdoor recreation opportunities. Summer Conferencing coordination — Manage scheduling and logistics for Summer Conferencing, coordinating with campus partners to meet group needs. Cross‑departmental support — Assist the Student Center Office, Office of Student Activities, Campus Post Office, and the Student Affairs Division as needed. Additional duties — Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support departmental and divisional goals. % of Time 100% Education/Knowledge Minimum Education Bachelor's Required Licenses/Certification Degree to be in a related field. Valid Driver's license First Aid and CPR Certification Required Skills Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly, professionally, and effectively to students, colleagues, and campus partners. Highly personable, approachable, and able to build positive relationships with a diverse campus community; demonstrates strong customer‑service orientation. Highly organized with demonstrated experience in planning, programming, and administering intramural or recreational sports activities. Ability to hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student staff while fostering a supportive and motivating work environment. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.); familiarity with scheduling software, facility‑management tools, and basic website management preferred. Proficiency with major social media platforms for marketing, outreach, and program promotion. Ability to coordinate events, manage facilities, ensure safety, and oversee daily operations of recreational spaces. Strong critical‑thinking and decision‑making skills, especially in fast‑paced or unexpected situations. Ability to work collaboratively with Student Affairs, Athletics, Facilities, and other campus departments to support shared goals. Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities, seasonal demands, and varied program needs. Commitment to providing high‑quality service to students, faculty, staff, and external groups using campus facilities.
