Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Canine Care Technician to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to shelter dogs and ensure the well-being of animals in our care. Currently hiring Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Looking for individuals able to be flexible with shift coverage if needed. Duties Daily care for shelter dogs Observes dogs daily for signs of illness, report findings to supervisor. Provide basic care for dogs, including feeding, bathing, and grooming. Maintain cleanliness and organization of animal care areas. Cleaning and sanitizing kennels and pavilion areas. Handle animals safely. Walking dogs on leash and training basic commands. Assists with dog adoptions and meet and greets. Food prep and feeding, following required feeding instructions per dog. Provides play and enrichment time. Supports the veterinary team as needed. Guiding and assisting volunteers to keep them safe. Transports to and from veterinary facilities in shelter van. Skills The ideal candidate will possess a combination of the following skills: Experience in animal care or pet grooming is preferred but not necessary. Ability to handle dogs safely. Ability to walk dogs that may pull, jump, lunge. Strong communication skills for interacting with potential adopters and team members. Previous experience in animal handling is a plus, but not necessary. A passion for providing high-quality care to the dogs at our facility. Must be able to lift 50 lbs, physically bend when cleaning and working with dogs and stand for long periods of time. Join us in making a difference in the lives of pets and their families!
