EXEMPT X NON-EXEMPT POSITION SUMMARY
The Cardiac Sonographer supports patient care by performing echo sonography procedures as directed by the physician for diagnostic purposes. Demonstrates proficiency with the use of ultrasound equipment and associated procedures. This job description is intended to identify some of the primary duties and responsibilities.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma. Successful completion of an approved program in ultrasound technology. Must be RDCS and/or RCS certified. BLS Certification. Good written and oral communication skills Previous experience as a Cardiac Sonographer preferred. Experience with Vascular Studies preferred.

Specific Competencies:
Performs comprehensive clinical assessments and diagnostic echo sonography examinations, demonstrating competency and strong technical skills. Reviews provider orders to verify exam appropriateness and clarify discrepancies as needed. Provides patient education related to ultrasound procedures and ensures patients understand the exam process. Utilizes appropriate scanning techniques and ultrasound equipment to obtain diagnostic images based on the provider's order. Adheres to standardized workflows, protocols, and departmental procedures. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment for preliminary diagnosis Consistently produces high-quality images that meet departmental and clinical standards. Acquires all required measurements per protocol, prepares digital preliminary reports for the interpreting radiologist, and verbally communicates urgent or notable preliminary findings when appropriate. Retrieves and reviews studies from PACS to support imaging workflow and quality assurance. Performs all aspects of patient care in a manner that prioritizes safety, minimizes errors, and enhances the patient experience. Follows proper infection control practices to maintain a safe and clean environment. Performs all required quality control checks for ultrasound equipment. Maintains accurate QC logs, service records, and documentation to ensure compliance and equipment readiness.
Professional Requirements:
Adheres to dress code; appearance is neat and professional. Completes annual education requirements if applicable. Maintains regulatory requirements. Wears identification while on duty. Attends annual evaluation and participates actively in this process. Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work in designated time. Attends all meetings as appropriate. Exhibits the mission, ethics and goals of Mayers Memorial Hospital District in the performance of job duties.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Willingness to work beyond normal working hours and in other positions temporarily when necessary. Is involved with personnel, visitors and government agencies, etc., when necessary. Must function independently, have personal integrity, have flexibility and the ability to work effectively with other personnel, clients and support agencies.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sits, stands, bends, lifts, walks and moves intermittently during working hours. Able to lift 20 lbs.
